Genetics of Resistance to Leaf Rust in Wheat: An Overview in a Genome-Wide Level

چکیده
Due to the global warming and dynamic changes in pathogenic virulence, leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina has greatly expanded its epidermic region become a severe threat wheat production. Genetic bases of resistance mainly rely on (Lr) gene or quantitative trait locus (QLr). Although these genetic loci have been insensitively studied during last two decades, an updated overview Lr/QLr genome-wide level is urgently needed. This review summarized recent progresses studies rust. Wheat germplasms with great potentials for improvement were highlighted. Key information about carrying was summarized. A chromosome distribution map all generated based released reference genome. In conclusion, this provided valuable sources both breeders researchers understand genetics wheat.

Genetics of Resistance to Wheat Leaf Rust1
Leaf rust (caused by Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici) is the most widespread and regularly occurring rust on wheat. Genetic resistance is the most economical method of reducing yield losses due to leaf rust. To date, 46 leaf rust resistance genes have been designated and mapped in wheat. Resistance gene expression is dependent on the genetics of host-parasite interaction, temperature conditio...
متن کاملGenome-Wide Association Mapping of Leaf Rust Response in a Durum Wheat Worldwide Germplasm Collection.
Leaf rust (caused by Erikss. []) is increasingly impacting durum wheat ( L. var. ) production with the recent appearance of races with virulence to widely grown cultivars in many durum producing areas worldwide. A highly virulent race on durum wheat was recently detected in Kansas. This race may spread to the northern Great Plains, where most of the US durum wheat is produced. The objective of ...
متن کاملGenome-Wide Association Mapping for Resistance to Leaf and Stripe Rust in Winter-Habit Hexaploid Wheat Landraces
Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina (Pt), and stripe rust, caused by P. striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), are destructive foliar diseases of wheat worldwide. Breeding for disease resistance is the preferred strategy of managing both diseases. The continued emergence of new races of Pt and Pst requires a constant search for new sources of resistance. Here we report a genome-wide association ...
متن کاملGenome-Wide Association Mapping Reveals Novel QTL for Seedling Leaf Rust Resistance in a Worldwide Collection of Winter Wheat.
Leaf rust of wheat ( L.) is a major disease that causes significant yield losses worldwide. The short-lived nature of leaf rust resistance () genes necessitates a continuous search for novel sources of resistance. We performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on a panel of 1596 wheat accessions. The panel was evaluated for leaf rust reaction by testing with a bulk of Eriks. () isolates co...
متن کاملGenetics of leaf rust resistance in spring wheat cultivars alsen and norm.
ABSTRACT Alsen is a recently released spring wheat cultivar that has been widely grown in the United States because it has resistance to Fusarium head blight and leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina. Norm is a high yielding wheat cultivar that has been very resistant to leaf rust since it was released. Alsen and Norm were genetically examined to determine the number and identity of the leaf r...
